LEADING ACROSS CULTURES: INSIGHTS FROM SCHOOL LEADERS IN LAMBAYONG’S MULTICULTURAL EDUCATIONAL LANDSCAPE

This qualitative study explores the transformative experiences of five school leaders in Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat, as they explore the complexities of multicultural education. Utilizing a transcendental phenomenological approach, in-depth semi-structured interviews provide insights into their challenges, strategies, and aspirations for fostering inclusivity. Thematic analysis reveals fifteen key themes: Positive Leadership Experience, Inclusive Leadership, Cultural Sensitivity, Managing Challenges, Embracing Diversity, Collaborative Problem Solving, Promoting Inclusivity, Contextual Communication, Culturally Responsive Curriculum, Culturally Inclusive Policies, Cultural Competence Development, Collaborative Community Engagement, Cultural Competence and Adaptability, Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion, and Commitment to Inclusivity. These themes underscore the leaders’ dedication to creating environments that respect diversity and enhance cultural competence. Findings highlight the need for ongoing training in culturally responsive practices and robust anti-discrimination policies. Challenges such as limited resources and varying levels of community support were identified as significant barriers to effective multicultural initiatives. This research emphasizes that effective leadership in multicultural settings involves cultivating a culture of collaboration, adaptability, and equity among all stakeholders. By sharing these insights, this study serves as a call to action for educators and policymakers committed to enhancing inclusivity within educational frameworks.
