India’s human rights situation is a serious problem that requires attention. The idea of “Unity in Diversity” is sometimes misunderstood because India has a diverse social reality. Inequality in social status and poverty are made worse by the caste system, which disproportionately affects ethnic minorities. These restrictions, which are allowed by social pressures and religious texts, have a detrimental effect on mental health. Despite the fact that the Indian constitution forbids sex-based discrimination, women’s status is still unequal, which results in sex-selective abortions, the preference for sons over daughters, and an increase in reports of crimes against women. These problems must be solved in order to improve human rights in India.
