DISCOURSE MARKERS AND DISFLUENCY IN RECORDED PRESENTATIONS OF BACHELOR OF ARTS IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE STUDENTS

This study titled Discourse Markers and Disfluency in Recorded Presentations of Bachelor of Arts in English Language Students employed descriptive research design to identify discourse markers and disfluency in 17 recorded presentations of Bachelor of Arts in English Language Students during the Academic Year 2020-2021 through content analysis.  The findings reveal that the frequently used discourse marker was so while the least used was right. The most common textual function of the discourse markers used was information indicator, while the least common was turn taker.  Finally, the most common form of disfluency in the recorded presentations was hesitation, while the least common was repetition. These findings suggest that the participants were bent on providing information but would hesitate at times. More studies on discourse markers and disfluency in oral discourse must be conducted.
